The Public Service Company of Colorado, now part of Xcel Energy, operates six coal-fired plants in Colorado. Two plants, Arapaho and Cherokee, are located in the Denver area, the Cameo plant is near Grand Junction, Pawnee is located at Brush, Valmont at Boulder and Comanche near Pueblo. The Arapaho and Pawnee plants burn Powder River coal while the Cameo plant burns coal from Utah. The other three plants burn Colorado coal. Part of PSC's car fleet were 254 Thrall gondolas, numbers 489-742, built in December 1977.
