Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. (AECI) is a group of 6 regional and 51 local electric cooperatives in Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and southeast Iowa. AECI owns 704 Bethgon Coalporter cars with AECX reporting marks to haul Powder River coal to the New Madrid power plant in southeast Missouri. New Madrid, located on the Union Pacific's former Cotton Belt line on the Mississippi River, has two 580-megawatt units and burned 4.45 million tons of coal in 2004.
